September 28, 2022. A group from Chevron quietly drove into the CYO campus and handed over the keys to a Ford F-250 truck.
“We understand the importance of Colorado Youth Outdoors’s mission to build family relationships through outdoor recreation, and we’ve come to appreciate it even more as we volunteer each year to help them upgrade their land and activities. It is great team building for us!” States Paula Beasley, Communications Advisor of Corporate Affairs at Chevron. “We hope this truck donation will help bring the horsepower to provide even more activities for more people.”
CYO would be thankful to get a truck any time and in any economy, but we’re especially grateful now. The value of used trucks has skyrocketed. Chevron is having trouble replacing their own fleet.
“We currently have 150 trucks on backorder. We’re holding onto our equipment a lot longer than we’d like,” says Dan Kuik, Chevron Fleet Manager. “But we’re thrilled to turn this into an awesome opportunity to contribute to CYO.”
220 acres with year-round programming. . .the CYO campus requires a tremendous amount of behind-the-scenes upkeep and maintenance. Minutes after this truck donation, the CYO staff couldn’t figure out how they got by without it!
“In the last week, I’ve used it around the property for irrigation projects, transporting shovels & setting up Winter Wonderland,” states Rob Anderson, CYO’s Facilites Manager. “Looking forward to using it for the Maverick, when we spend 3 weeks hauling trailers full of equipment from CYO to SylvanDale Ranch & back.”
Bob Hewson, CEO of Colorado Youth Outdoors, “For Chevron to recognize this need and make a donation of a 3/4 ton work truck with cargo tool boxes — we can’t say thank you enough!”
